A healthy weeping Higan cherry, this young tree was ready for a structural pruning. Large suckers were removed, keeping close attention to the main leaders. This tree had minor deadwood, but crossing branches were prevalent. The client had expressed interest in taking it off the patio as it was encroaching on the usable space. I concentrated on the wider look and pruned out most of the limbs coming forward. The after-bloom picture denotes a open healthy tree with ample sunlight penetrating the canopy, allowing for new plants to be planted below, a boost of color to a once dark spot in the garden.
