Tree Planting 101 - 1 Paper Birch; 1 Fraser Fir; 1 White Spruce

Planting a tree is an exciting step in creating a beautiful landscape, but it requires a little care to ensure the tree thrives! One important thing to remember is the root flare—the point where the tree’s roots begin to spread out from the trunk. It should be level with or slightly above the soil surface when planting. If you plant the tree too deep, the roots can suffocate, and if too shallow, the tree can dry out. Another fun tip is to create a small rain dish around the base of the tree. This helps collect rainwater, giving the tree a natural boost, especially in dry spells. With the right planting height and a little rainwater catchment, you’re setting your tree up for a long, healthy life!
