Very Large Acer palmatum 'Garnet' Japanese Maple Pruning:

Updated: Jan 29, 2020

This large Lace-leaf Japanese maple reached a height of 13’ tall and 10’ wide. The client had never had it pruned and was anxious to touch it at all because of her love for the tree. This tree took a total of 10 hours to prune and was one of the largest i’ve ever had the opportunity to work on…..What a Treat!!! Main laterals were protected while smaller crossing branches were removed. Wings were opened up to allow air flow and sunlight to penetrate the crown. Dead wood and crossing branches were removed, while keeping an eye on the overall look and structure of the tree. A focal point for the entire neighborhood, this tree was a awesome challenge. The client was thrilled with the work and has asked me to come back every year for maintenance thinning.
